During 2015 – 2016 Ben Wigley was commissioned to work with a number of older people in care to bring together the aesthetic and conceptually interesting elements from fine art filmmaking with the power of documentary. These series of films act as a visual conduit for people’s stories, feelings and life histories.
In order to create a unique outcome, Ben has used a Bolex camera and film methods that include tinting & toning, solarising and super 8 colour processing. These processes are far cry from the film making that we know today and hark back to an era where things took time to complete and required patience to see the final results.
The films leave the Imagine programme with a legacy for the individuals involved, their family and friends and wider audiences to enjoy.
