Celebrating National Care Home Day

As part of the Imagine programme, a special event for residents at Sycamore House was organised for the annual National Care Home Open Day. The afternoon included singing from children from Seely School, Stephenie and Chloe, soprano singer and pianist from Live Music Now and chimes played by Emma Williams and Ruth Boston. The Starchild puppet also made an appearance at the end of the day due to her popularity last year!
The Activity Co-ordinator commented that the event was “even better than last year!” and was particularly impressed by the way in which the performers engaged with residents and visitors that attended. Seeley School once again welcomed the opportunity to come into the care home and parents collected their children at the end of the event, giving them the opportunity to talk with the residents. Parents commented that they thought it was really important for their children to come into care settings and the residents enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the children. Both the children and residents alike skilfully played the large chimes together.
Events like this provide communities the opportunity to come together and share in great experiences.
