Imagine – arts and older people

Imagine is an arts and older people’s programme led by City Arts.

The programme was initially set up through funding from Arts Council England and The Baring Foundation’s Arts and Older People in Care fund. This programme now exists beyond this funding in continuing to use the arts to enrich the lives of older residents, better involving them in the wider community and supports residents to connect with people of all ages.

City Arts manages the Imagine programme and works with partners such as care home providers and other organisations supporting older people in the community, cultural and heritage organisations, Nottingham City Council, the University of Nottingham and external evaluators.  This is part of City Arts’ long-standing commitment to give older people access to the artistic events and performances the rest of us take for granted. It offers people in later life the opportunity to be creative and involve them in commissioning new artwork.

This innovative programme aims to challenge, engage and stimulate older people in accessing opportunities for self-expression to help improve their wellbeing.
